For all of you out there that don't already know, Figleaves has introduced a new section - Greenleaves stocking a range of eco-friendly and ethical brands.
Now, there's no time like the present to re-think our buying habits. It really would make a difference in the world to start buying clothing made from sustainable sources that are ethically and fairly produced and traded, made from organically farmed materials that avoid the use of chemicals and are recyclable to protect the ecosystem.
This all sounds good in theory, but unfortunately we all know how pricey it can be to live a green life, many of us simply feel we cannot afford it. Like most people, I love a good bargain - I'm not perfect, I couldn't resist buying LaSenza's £7.50 bra.
However, it's a shame that we've been conditioned to expect rock bottom prices - you can go to Primark and buy tops for as little as £1.50. We are slowly coming to believe that clothes shouldn't last very long, that they are easily and cheaply replaceable. What kind of quality can you expect from a garment costing as little as £1.50? No wonder we are shocked by the prices of eco-friendly clothing brands. Perhaps we need to re-condition ourselves into paying a little more for something that will hopefully last a little longer, which can in turn help us to buy a little less, evening out the money we spend and perhaps doing a little good in the world...
This 3/4 cup balconette by Chantelle is made from a sustainable bamboo jersey blend.
It looks gorgeously laid back and comes in sizes 32/38 B/F, although the E-cup and above only begins at a 36-back, hopefully there will will be a bigger demand for these kinds of products and we can all enjoy a wider size range.
For now, those of us who cannot enjoy the bra can treat themselves to the matching shorts, which are so cute and comfy looking. I'd wear these with a seamless black satin bra or with a T-shirt to bed.
